Service Rotation Most people who have played any volleyball have been introduced to the idea of service rotation. There are six positions on the court (3 front row and 3 back row) and one of the positions is the designated server. Players rotate through each of these positions, serving when they rotate to the designated position. 1 4 3 2 5 6
You must understand that there are 6 positions on the court. The 6 positions are 1) right back, 2) right front, 3) middle front, 4) left front, 5) left back, and 6) middle back. At the moment of service contact, the players that are in positions next to one another and opposite one another can't be overlapped.
There are five positions to play in volleyball and each position is mirrored in the front and back row. For instance, in the rotation in the diagram, the outside hitters play opposite each other—one is in the left front and the other is in the right back. If the team starts the game here, this is rotation one.
